How Lexidy Greece serves clients around the world with remotely signed powers of attorney

Lexidy Greece, the Athens office of an international law firm, has completed 21 appointments with notarity in 16 months, for clients from 12 countries across 4 continents.

When the document has to hold

Lexidy’s Athens office helps international clients buy property, open bank accounts, get a Greek tax number and apply for residence permits. Many of them live abroad and rarely travel to Greece. To act on their behalf, the team needs a power of attorney that Greek banks, notaries and public authorities will accept.

Before notarity, clients had to find a notary in their own country and then arrange an apostille separately. For clients in the US, that often meant finding a local notary and getting an apostille from the state. In some countries there is no working Greek consulate at all, so a remote power of attorney is the only way to take these clients on.

From the Spanish team to Athens

Lexidy’s Spanish team has used notarity since 2024. The Athens office started by scheduling appointments through the Spanish office. In December 2025 notarity streamlined this process for Lexidy. Today the Athens team organises clients’ notary appointments within five minutes, and documents are sent automatically to the Athens office once notarised and apostilled.

Lexidy then onboarded the whole Athens team itself. The platform proved self-explanatory and easy to navigate.

One route for every client abroad

Today, every Lexidy Greece client outside Greece signs through notarity. Wherever they live, the process is the same.

Most powers of attorney are for real estate, such as buying or selling property in Greece and the land registry filings that follow. Others let the Athens team open bank accounts, register clients with the Greek tax office or file residence permit applications on their behalf.

The client verifies their identity online and signs with a partner notary by video, often on the same day they book. Each appointment can include as many participants as needed. The signed and apostilled power of attorney arrives digitally shortly afterwards, and the original follows by post to the Athens office.

The traditional route meant finding a notary abroad, arranging a separate apostille and waiting weeks for the original. With notarity, a single appointment covers all of it.

A whole family in one appointment

An investor living in the UAE needed powers of attorney for his family’s Greek residence application. The whole family signed together in a single remote appointment, without anyone having to travel.

No notary run in the US

For US clients, a power of attorney for Greece usually means finding a local notary and then getting a separate apostille from the state. That often meant a long back-and-forth. Now they sign from home in one online appointment, the apostille is included, and the original is shipped straight to Athens.

Two countries, one day

Two clients, one in the US and one in Singapore, needed powers of attorney for Greece at the same time. Both signed on the same day in separate appointments with two different notaries. The Lexidy lawyer didn’t have to coordinate anything across time zones.

The result

Since its first appointment in July 2025, Lexidy Greece has completed 21 appointments with 114 signatures, steadily at one to two a month. Clients signed from 12 countries across 4 continents, with the largest group in the US.

Many appointments are family matters, with several signers in a single session. The powers of attorney are accepted by Greek banks, notaries and public authorities, without extra coordination.

What a useful tool notarity has been. With some clients abroad, getting a power of attorney would have taken me months. Now anyone who is not in Greece signs through notarity.
