Why people use notarity

The notarisation you need. Without the trip to get it.

Most people need a notary once, for one document, often because someone else asked for it. These are the three assumptions that usually get in the way, and what happens on notarity instead.

1.0 — Digital appointment

Think you need a notary in your town? Book your next notary appointment online.

What matters is where the document will be used, not where you live. When you book, you choose that country and a time slot that suits you, and you join the appointment by video call from wherever you are.

  • No travel and no waiting room
  • Join from any device

2.0 — Accepted abroad

Need your document abroad? An apostille is the solution.

You sign electronically, in compliance with eIDAS, and the notary does not need to be from the country the document is for. Where an apostille is required, it is arranged digitally as part of the same process, for use in almost any country. If you are unsure what the recipient expects, ask them before you book.

  • Join from any country
  • Apostille arranged digitally
  • For use in almost any country

3.0 — Paper original

Someone wants a paper original? The notary can issue one.

The digital documents, signed electronically in compliance with eIDAS, are the originals and are in your notarity account shortly after the appointment. On request, the notary also issues a hard copy with wet-ink signature, stamp and seal.

The services our users book most

Find the right service

Notarisation: the notary confirms your signature

A partner notary verifies your identity and sees you sign, by video call. They certify the signature, not the content of the document. Usually asked for by a bank, an authority or a register.

  • You sign electronically, in compliance with eIDAS
  • It is issued to you during identity verification, so you don't need one in advance

Certified copy: the copy matches the original

You show the original, for example your passport or ID, and a partner notary certifies that the copy matches it. Often needed for account verification with a registry abroad.

  • The notary does not need to be from the destination country
  • Accepted internationally, with an apostille where required

Apostille: the extra step for use abroad

An apostille confirms the notary's signature and seal, so the document is recognised in the states of the Hague Apostille Convention. It does not replace the notarisation, it comes on top of it: you add it when you book.

  • Arranged digitally in the same process
  • Not tied to your home country
  • Outside the Hague Convention, embassy legalisation applies instead

Power of attorney: usually notarisation and apostille

Notarised fully online and apostilled for use in almost any country. Upload your own document, or let the notary draft it for you.

  • Property purchases abroad
  • Travel consent for children
  • Tax registrations

Frequently asked questions

To the FAQ

How does an online notary appointment via notarity work?

You choose the service you need, book an appointment and upload your documents. Before the appointment, you complete a short identity verification. At the agreed time, you join a secure video call with a partner notary, who identifies you again and guides you through signing. You sign electronically, in compliance with eIDAS, with a signature issued to you during identity verification, so you don't need one in advance. The notary then notarises your signature, and the documents are available for download on the platform shortly afterwards. If you need the document abroad, an apostille and physical hard copies can be arranged as well.

I don't have a notary. Can I find one on notarity?

Yes. When you book an appointment, notarity matches you with a suitable partner notary from its network, usually within 24 hours and often on much shorter notice. You can also work with a notary you already know. There is no fee for being matched with a partner notary, and no obligation to proceed.

Can I use notarity from abroad?

Yes. You can use notarity from anywhere and at any time. There are no geographical restrictions on where you join the appointment from.

Can I get a power of attorney notarised and apostilled for use in another country?

Yes. Partner notaries can notarise your power of attorney fully online and arrange the apostille digitally, for use in almost any country, for example Italy, Portugal, Romania or Morocco. This works for private matters such as property purchases or travel consent for children, and for business matters such as tax registrations. Book an appointment and upload the document, or let the notary draft it for you.

Can I get a certified copy of my passport for use abroad?

Yes. A partner notary can certify a copy of your passport or ID online, for example for account verification with a company registry abroad. The notary does not need to be from the destination country; with an apostille where required, the certified copy is accepted internationally.

Can I get a paper version of my notarised document?

Yes. The digital documents, signed electronically in compliance with eIDAS, are the originals. On request, the notary can also issue a hard copy with wet-ink signature, stamp and seal, sent to any address worldwide, by standard shipping (approx. 3–5 working days within Europe) or optional express courier (approx. 1–2 working days within Europe). You can order a hard copy during booking or after the appointment. It is charged separately; in Austria, the price is set by the notary.
