How Hrdalo & Krnic keeps cross-border filings inside Croatia's 30-day window
Hrdalo & Krnic, a boutique Croatian law firm, grew signature volume for its cross-border clients from 10 in 2024 to 115 in the first eight months of 2026 using notarity.
A three-month clock, and a signer who might be anywhere
Documents like a power of attorney or company excerpt filed with the Croatian Court Register are often only accepted if they were notarised within the last 30 days. Hrdalo & Krnic's clients are based in multiple countries, including Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, so a signer typically had to notarise and apostille the document locally first. When a signer's home-country apostille office is slow, the wait can run four to six weeks if no one is actively chasing it. That window can close before the apostilled document even arrives in Croatia, and the client ends up needing an entirely new notarisation just to meet the deadline.
notarity turns a cross-border notarisation from a weeks-long logistics exercise into a routine appointment. We no longer ask clients to find a notary and an apostille office in their own country. We send them one link, and the filing deadline stops being the problem.
No travel, no waiting on someone else's queue
The standard setup put two things outside the law firm's control: the client had to be physically present at a notary, and the pace of the whole process depended on how quickly a foreign notary and apostille office could turn things around. Both are removed by notarity. Signers verify their identity and complete the notarisation remotely, so no one needs to travel to a notary in person.
Hrdalo & Krnic books the appointment directly, without coordinating between client, notary, and courier. Turnaround is fast and predictable, not dependent on a foreign office's queue. Onboarding was quick. Hrdalo & Krnic and notarity went through their use case together and set up a booking form. With those in place, every appointment now follows the same process, whoever the client is. Hrdalo & Krnic no longer needs a long back-and-forth with each client to get a notarisation started. Booking an appointment today takes two to three minutes.
From occasional to routine
Hrdalo & Krnic now uses notarity for various use cases, from powers of attorney to proof-of-representation and company-excerpt certifications. Clients are corporate and cross-border, including signers based outside of Croatia.
Usage has moved from occasional to a regular part of the practice. What began as a handful of appointments a year has become a steady monthly cadence in 2026. One recent booking covered five first-time signers and six documents in a single session.
One example from Hrdalo & Krnic's day-to-day use
Five signatories located across several jurisdictions needed to sign one power of attorney together. Each verified their identity independently, then joined the same notary appointment. The notarised and apostilled document was available for download within minutes, with a hard copy delivered to Croatia by courier within one to two days.
