You can upload or change the document up to the appointment. Uploading it early helps the partner notary prepare.

Everyone who signs joins the appointment from wherever they are.

  3. Verify your identity

Identity verification takes about 5 to 10 minutes and can be completed at any time before the appointment.

  4. Meet the partner notary online

In the video appointment, the partner notary reviews the document with you in real time.

  5. Sign the document

You sign during the appointment, and the partner notary notarises the document.

  6. Download from your account

The notarised document is available in your notarity account shortly after the appointment.

Frequently asked questions

To the FAQ

What types of documents can be notarised online?

Partner notaries on notarity offer a wide range of services, including signature notarisation, powers of attorney, corporate documents, affidavits, certifications of facts and certified copies of IDs and passports. If a document can legally be notarised by a notary, the appointment can generally take place fully online.

Which documents cannot be notarised online?

Wills cannot be made online. Some acts under German law need a notarial deed by a German notary, for example founding a GmbH or UG, transferring shares in a GmbH or buying real estate in Germany. For these, partner notaries on notarity can notarise a power of attorney online, and with an apostille a representative can then carry out the act in Germany for you.

Does my document need to be translated before the notarisation?

No. Documents can be notarised in any language. The notary verifies your identity and signature, not the document's content. If the recipient needs a certified translation, you can order one at translate.notarity.com. The notary notarises exactly the version signed in the appointment, so if the notarised signature should be on the translated version, translate first and sign afterwards.

Can a notary confirm facts for use in the UK?

Yes. A UK notary can confirm factual information, such as UK Companies House extracts, shareholder or director lists, or that a document exists or was presented. Select the United Kingdom as destination country when you book. For use within the UK, an apostille is often not needed; for use outside it, a UK apostille from the FCDO usually is, digital or on paper. A UK apostille takes longer than described above: the digital one is usually ready within 24 hours on working days, the paper one, as Express Apostille, in 3 to 4 working days.
