Signature notarisation
Have your signature notarised online by a partner notary
Secure, fast and done in one short video appointment. A licensed partner notary on the notarity platform notarises your signature, wherever you are. Add an apostille during booking if the document is going abroad.
What a signature notarisation is
With a signature notarisation, a notary confirms that the signature on a document is yours: they verify your identity and see you sign. They certify the signature, not the content of the document. It is usually asked for by a bank, an authority, a counterparty or a register. A signature notarisation and an affidavit are not interchangeable everywhere, so if you are unsure which one you need, ask the office that will receive the document.
What it is booked for
If someone has to sign the document and the recipient wants the signature notarised, this is the service. Common examples:
- Parental consent
- Travel consent for a child travelling without one or both parents, or a consent form for a child's visa. The parent signs, the partner notary notarises the signature; for use abroad, add the apostille.
- Specimen signature
- A specimen signature sheet, which banks and registers ask for to compare future signatures, for example when you become a managing director or open a company account.
- Contracts
- Employment, loan, lease, investment and share transfer agreements, when a party or authority requires notarised signatures. Several signatories can sign in the same appointment. Some acts, such as transferring shares in a German GmbH, need a notarial deed instead.
- Consent & waiver
- Declarations of consent and waivers, for example a spouse's consent or giving up a right, when the recipient wants the signature confirmed by a notary.

Frequently asked questions
Is a signature notarised over video legally equivalent to signing in front of a notary in person?
The answer is in the setup itself: identity verification at eIDAS assurance level high, electronic signatures in compliance with eIDAS, and a licensed partner notary performing the notarisation under their own national law. Whether a particular office accepts the document is for the recipient to confirm, so if in doubt, check with them before you book.
Can several people sign the same document?
Yes, even from different countries. Add the signers during booking. Each signer receives their own email with instructions and joins the same appointment. It is charged per document, not per signer, so a document signed by two people costs the same as one signed by one.
Can I just sign a document electronically, without notarisation?
No. On notarity, an electronic signature is always applied as part of a notarisation. If you only need the electronic signature and no notarial wording, book a regular notarisation and tell the partner notary: they will witness the signing and apply the signature without the extra certification page. The process stays the same.
Do I need an apostille?
Many authorities require an apostille when documents will be used abroad. If you are unsure, ask the recipient whether an apostille is required. For most international cases, adding an apostille is recommended.
Will authorities accept a digital copy?
Some do, some don't. Some countries still expect a physical copy, so it is best to always check with the recipient what exactly they require. If you need a paper version, it can be sent to any address.
Can I have my signature on a contract notarised?
Yes, for example on a shareholder agreement, a share purchase agreement, a loan agreement or an employment contract. The partner notary confirms that the signature is yours. Add the apostille only if the other party or an authority abroad asks for it.
Can I get my signature notarised for use in the UK?
Yes. Select the United Kingdom as destination country when you book: a UK notary then notarises your signature, and the booking form shows their open slots. For use within the UK, an apostille is often not needed; for use outside it, a UK apostille from the FCDO usually is, digital or on paper. A UK apostille takes longer than described above: the digital one is usually ready within 24 hours on working days, the paper one, as Express Apostille, in 3 to 4 working days.
