Power of attorney
Authorise someone to act for you, wherever they are
Your power of attorney, notarised online by a partner notary on the notarity platform in a video appointment. Going abroad? Add the apostille during booking: this service needs one more often than not.
What a notarised power of attorney does
A power of attorney lets someone else act for you when you cannot be there in person: buying property in another country, a company matter abroad, a register filing that a lawyer or notary on the ground has to make, or settling an estate. Because it is almost always used across borders, it is the service most often paired with an apostille.
Apostille
Add the apostille when you book
A power of attorney used abroad usually needs one. Add the apostille during booking and it is issued straight after the appointment, so you download both together.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a power of attorney notarised and apostilled for use in another country?
Yes. Partner notaries can notarise your power of attorney fully online and arrange the apostille digitally, for use in almost any country, for example Italy, Portugal, Romania or Morocco. This works for private matters such as property purchases or travel consent for children, and for business matters such as tax registrations. Book an appointment and upload the document, or have a partner notary draft it for you.
Does my power of attorney meet the requirements of the country where it will be used?
That is decided by the country where it will be used: the wording and form come from there. The person who can confirm them is usually your lawyer or notary in that country, so check with them before the appointment. A notarised signature on its own is not always enough; many countries also expect an apostille.
How do I book a power of attorney?
In the booking form, choose signature notarisation, then upload your power of attorney.
Do I need an apostille?
Many authorities require an apostille when documents will be used abroad. If you are unsure, ask the recipient whether an apostille is required. For most international cases, adding an apostille is recommended.

Can I get a power of attorney for Spain notarised online?
Yes, for example to buy or sell property, open a bank account, form a Spanish company or go to court (poder para pleitos). With the apostille and a notarial certificate worded for Spain, it works there as a public document. Drafted in Spanish, or in two languages including Spanish, it needs no sworn translation. If a company grants it, add a proof of representation.
Does Spain need the paper original of my power of attorney?
It depends on who receives it. Spanish notaries, the Land and Commercial Registries and the police want the paper original. Courts and banks increasingly accept the digital original, but not all of them, so ask first. When in doubt, add the hard copy when you book.
